With Universal's plans for a Twins sequel--Triplets!--still somehow real, the studio has hired on writers to carry their vision beyond the "now Eddie Murphy is also a sibling" phase.
As you may recall, Twins co-star Arnold Schwarzenegger has already taken care of the billboard copy (realized above), and even helpfully produced a sort of loose treatment, last year saying:
"It's called 'Triplets'. I'd find somebody like Eddie Murphy or someone that people would say, 'How does that happen, medically speaking?' and, 'Physically, there's no way!' Then, somehow, we would explain it."
Now, the burden of somehow explaining how that happened, medically speaking, even though physically there's no way, has fallen into the hands of Book Of Mormon star Josh Gad and Ryan Dixon. Deadline reports they've been hired to tighten Schwarzenegger's outline, with Dixon then writing the script under the pressure of audiences demanding three times the laughs. Maybe there could be a scene where they do the synchronized walk from Genesis's "I Can't Dance" video?
